Oil Purchase Plans
You can get prices and enroll in any available oil price protection program by clicking on the Customer Login button (located at the top of any page on the web site). Or, you can contact us by telephone direct at 802-775-3322. Prices for these programs are established daily.
Oil Price Protection plans are available year-round. All Oil Price Protection Plans are based on estimated annual consumption, and are based on daily market prices. All Oil Price Protection agreements must be confirmed in writing (or electronic agreement). SmartCap price plans have a fee to cover the cost of the insurance provided by Patten Oil Company and this fee must be paid at the time the price protection plan is put into effect.

Automatic Delivery
Let us handle the responsibility of keeping your tank full so you don't have to – it's what we do best! Our computerized degree-day system allows us to keep track of your usage and schedule deliveries so you never have to worry about running out of fuel. There is no additional charge for this service. We can process your payment electronically to make life easier for you!
Budget Program
Enjoy the benefits of automatic delivery, spreading your payments over a 12 month period with current market pricing and enrollment in our SmartCap Plan. Our budget program keeps your bills low and predictable, no matter how cold the weather! Payments are based on your prior year's usage with first payment generally due on June 1st. Deliveries will be made automatically in quantities up to the balance on your account.
SmartCap Plan
This plan requires automatic delivery, and you receive the current market price and never exceed the agreed upon Cap price per gallon. A program fee, paid in full at the time you sign up, buys the “insurance” that provides the Cap Price. Once the fee is paid, you can choose several payment options.
Will Call Delivery
When you need your next fuel delivery, give our office a call and we'll confirm your delivery date, dispatching one of our trucks to your location. Please order at ¼ of a tank with at least 24 hours notice. Payment is required at the time of delivery with a 100 gallon minimum and we accept cash, money orders, personal checks (subject to bank verification) and credit cards for your convenience.
Fixed Price Plan
This option allows you to pre-pay for next year's fuel at one guaranteed price regardless of price fluctuations over the winter heating season. It also allows you to pay for your fuel in advance without the worry of paying multiple fuel bills over the course of the winter. Fixed Price gallons are distributed by automatic delivery only, and customer agrees that the price is non-negotiable, regardless of increases or decreases during year. This plan provides protection only against price increases.
You can even buy just a portion of your fuel..or buy in increments!
The State of Vermont requires Fuel Dealers to contract for your gallons within 7 Days of your purchasing them from us. Therefore, your undelivered gallons may be subject to a storage fee and liquidated damages at the end of the 12 month cycle.
Our Pre-Buy plan is merely an option and we cannot recommend nor discourage this program. Simply put, there is no way of knowing if it will save you money… The future price of oil may change dramatically for many reasons and you may very well do better by not locking-in. However, this program does offer peace of mind by not taking any risk related to price volatility and allows you to pay for your winter heating oil in advance. If you would like to pay a lower price when the market falls, you should choose the SmartCap Plan above.
Emergency Delivery Service
We're here for our customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! We answer our phones personally during the winter heating season insuring prompt efficient service. Emergency deliveries are subject to a 100 gallon minimum with a surcharge for after hour deliveries.
