Founder and President, Mark Patten has over 20 years of experience in the home heating oil industry. Mark grew up in Attleboro, MA area and began his first oil company in the mid 1980’s as a fresh faced kid right out of college. Researching the market for well over a year, he sold everything he owned to purchase an old 1970 Ford oil truck that he hand painted and stenciled his name to -- and with that, Patten Oil was born.
Within several years, the business grew from one truck and just a handful of customers to a fleet of 5 trucks, 3 service vans and 12 employees who cheerfully serviced 22 towns in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, delivering #2 heating oil, kerosene and diesel fuel to a base of over 5000 customers.
In 1997, Mark fulfilled his childhood dream of purchasing a property in Pittsfield, Vermont and after several years of commuting back and forth to Massachusetts on a weekly basis, he sold the business to a local competitor in 2000.
With oil still “in his blood” Mark and his family made the decision to relocate to Rutland in October of 2005 in an effort to provide its residents with a fresh new alternative in home heating care.
